We are defined by Matthew 25:40 " Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. "
Impact is an approach to youth mission projects implemented by Presbyterians within the state of Texas. Birth at Faith Presbyterian Church of Baytown, the concept was adopted from other youth oriented mission opportunities that our leaders had been apart in the past. The goal of Impact is to offer a opportunity for students to serve others through mission projects and share their faith. Impact is designed to connect our youth, impact our communities and touch the less fortunate. Students who attend Impact will not only put their faith into action, but they will connect with other students who have a similar heart and desire. Impact is designed for work, worship, and building relationships, thus living out our Christianity in very practical ways.
2008 - The Impact mission project began in the summer of 2008. In Victoria, Texas with 59 participants representing 6 churches from both the New Covenant and Mission Presbytery's. The youth and adults completed 11 sites, and were able to assist the local Meals on Wheels and Salvation Army.
2009 - Impact continued in July of 2009 when students went to Austin, Texas. There, while staying in Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminar, they helped renovate a community center that served individuals suffering with substance abuse. Additionally, they pass out water to Austins homeless, and helped Austin Parks develope a xeroscape nursery that services the greater Austin community.
